June 2026

Opening webinar slide. A cream-colored background with the SkyTruth logo is in the top left corner. The title "Making environmental harm visible, measurable, and actionable" is under the logo, and an aerial photo of two ships with an oil slick visible on the water beneath them is on the right side.

Webinar Highlights Our 25th Anniversary and Annual Report

We closed out June with the latest webinar in our quarterly series! Our CEO and founder, John Amos, marked our landmark 25th anniversary, and Chief Impact Officer Mitchelle De Leon walked through our recently released annual report. Our new CTO, Karl Wurster, closed out the session by sharing what’s new in our tools and technology – watch the recording on our YouTube channel here.

Marking Four Years of Our Ocean

A photo of Chief Impact Officer Mitchelle De Leon standing in front of a large blue sign at the conference. Text on the sign, to his right, reads: 16-18 June, 2026, Mombasa, Kenya, Our Ocean, Our Heritage, Our Future, #OurOceanKenya.

Our chief impact officer, Mitchelle De Leon, recently returned from the 11th annual Our Ocean Conference in Mombasa, Kenya. It was his fourth time representing SkyTruth at the event, where we’ve launched powerful ocean-monitoring tools and strengthened partnerships focused on implementing actionable solutions for marine issues. He reflects on the growth and changes he’s seen in the organization and our work over that time in this new blog post.

What's New

Climate-resilient corals layer

We’ve refreshed the coral layer in our 30x30 Progress Tracker to reflect data from a new study by the Wildlife Conservation Society and Macquarie University!

The research provides a comprehensive picture of coral reef resilience globally, identifying 165,922 km² of reefs across 71 countries and 100 territories with the strongest potential to survive the climate crisis. That data is now available in our 30x30 Progress Tracker – learn more here.

New translations available

As the Our Ocean Conference kicked off in Mombasa, Kenya, we were excited to launch new translations, including Swahili, in both Cerulean and the 30x30 Progress Tracker.

The additional translations support our goal to make our tools more accessible to a broad range of users. See which languages were added in the new product update pages on our website here: translations in Cerlulean and those in the 30x30 Progress Tracker.

Reefs at Risk Report

A graphic showing a photo of underwater coral in the background. The SkyTruth logo is in the top right corner. White text overlay in the center reads "87% of sensitive marine environments in Malaysia are threatened by oil and gas production and exploration. SkyTruth provided technical support for a new report from RimbaWatch: Reefs at Risk."

Our friends and partners at RimbaWatch released a new report that reveals the vast majority of marine protected areas in Malaysia are threatened by oil and gas projects.

Our team provided technical support for the report, including analysis of oil slicks from vessel traffic and offshore infrastructure.
