Brazil’s Offshore Fossil Fuel Threats Exposed

SkyTruth’s latest report is sparking national and international attention in the wake of COP30 in Brazil. Among the findings: 179 oil slicks detected since 2017, a 49% rise in oil production, and an 81% surge in vessel traffic – evidence of chronic offshore pollution that threatens some of the world’s most biodiverse waters off the Brazilian coast. The report also highlights the ecological and biological impacts of the offshore industry. Explore the full findings here in English or Portuguese.
